Impact Prayer Ministry officially began on June 1, 2006. However, the seeds and roots of this ministry go back much further in time and run much deeper. Prayer Ministry has always been a part of what Impact Ministries International is all about. Impact Prayer Ministry simply takes that commitment to prayer to another level.
IPM came about as God brought the paths of Dean Trune and Tom Lemler together. As director of Impact Ministries International, Dean has long stood for doing campus ministry with a deliberate focus of passionately pursuing God. This is evident as Dean leads the ministry of Impact with its mission statement, "Pursue, Model, and Teach Intimacy with God".
On the other path, God took a youth minister in transition and planted in his mind Ezekiel 22:30 as a life verse to guide him in living out of his pursuit of God. February 3, 2000 was a turning point in the life of this minister. It began a commitment in Tom's life to be one who would "stand in the gap" on behalf of others.
In July of 2005, the paths that Dean and Tom were on not only intersected, but had become intertwined to the point that Dean asked Tom to pray about and consider joining Impact Ministries International as Director of Prayer Ministry. Thus, after considerable prayer, and a transition time out of youth ministry, Tom launched Impact Prayer Ministry as a part of Impact Ministries International on June 1, 2006.
