“A Lifestyle of Prayer”
This week’s prayer focus: The Beatitudes!
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
A Lifestyle of Prayer should be just that — a lifestyle, not simply an event. View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort. It is my prayer that these weeks of “topical” prayer guides have been training and equipping you in the practice of prayer. This week we continue a focus of using the Sermon on the Mount, particularly the Beatitudes, as a prayer guide! Pray that God would give you a greater understanding of His view of being blessed. As you pray about each day’s topic, pray that you will see beyond the ordinary and that God will use that characteristic in your life to bring blessing to you and to others through you. Pray for the people in your life. Pray for your family, your neighbors, your church family, your co-workers, and anyone else God brings to your mind. Pray also that the blessings of these qualities would be ever-increasing in your life. Continue to use the prayer guides/lists from the past weeks.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
Please spend time praying each day for the characteristic listed. With that focus in mind, pray for yourself, your family, your friends, neighbors, and all the other “one anothers” we’ve been praying for over the past weeks. Thank you!
Sunday: Pray for Tom Lemler and the work God is doing through Impact Prayer Ministry.
Monday: Peacemakers. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” Matthew 5:9
Tuesday: The Persecuted. “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10
Wednesday: The Insulted. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12
Thursday: The Falsely Accused. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12
Friday: Being “Salty”. “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Matthew 5:13
Saturday: Being “Light”. “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
