Lifestyle of Prayer: Wisdom

i

“A Lifestyle of Prayer”

 This week’s prayer focus:  Wisdom!

“Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

Proverbs 4:7 (NIV)

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.  This week we will focus our prayer emphasis on the subject of wisdom.  When God talks about wisdom, it is often with different terms than those used by the world.  God desires to fill us with wisdom if we would but ask in faith.  Many times the more difficult task is putting that wisdom to use once we have received it from God.  Pray that you would experience, and share, the true wisdom that is found in Christ.  Pray each day for the individuals of the church congregation you attend as well as for the body of believers that meet together.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please spend time each day praying about, and writing down, how God would have you live out that day’s aspect of prayer.    Thank you!

Sunday:  Pray for your church, its staff and leadership, and for all of the preaching and teaching that takes place.  Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.

Monday: Wisdom that is Righteous and Just.  Pray that you would be filled with a wisdom that is righteous and just.  Pray that the people around you would know of God’s righteousness and justice by listening to you.  “The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.”  Psalm 37:30 (NIV)

Tuesday: Wisdom in our Words.  Pray that the meditations of your heart would put words of wisdom in your mouth.  Pray that the people around you would grow in their understanding of God as they hear His wisdom from you.  “My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the utterance from my heart will give understanding.”  Psalm 49:3 (NIV)

Wednesday: Wisdom of Truth.  Pray that you would be filled with a wisdom that is based in truth.  Pray that the people around you would seek God’s truth as the foundation of wisdom.  “Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.”  Psalm 51:6 (NIV)

Thursday: The Source of Wisdom.  Pray that your fear of the Lord would fill you with a wisdom that follows His precepts.  Pray that the people around you would turn to God for true wisdom and understanding.  “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.  To him belongs eternal praise.”  Psalm 111:10 (NIV)

Friday: Protected by Wisdom.  Pray that you would always be protected by God’s wisdom in your life.  Pray that the people around you would be filled with a godly wisdom that protects the soul.  “Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.”  Proverbs 4:6 (NIV)

SaturdayWisdom through Discipline.  Pray that you would have the humility to gain wisdom from discipline.  Pray that the people around  you would understand the value of God’s discipline in providing wisdom.  “The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.”  Proverbs 29:15 (NIV)
