Lifestyle of Prayer: Strength!

“A Lifestyle of Prayer”

 This week’s prayer focus:  Strength!

“Do you not know?  Have you not heard?   The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
Isaiah 40:28-29 (NIV)

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.  This week we will focus our prayer emphasis on some things that God says about strength — true strength!  Pray that you would seek God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength so that it is His strength that lives through you.   Pray each day for the individuals of the church congregation you attend as well as for the body of believers that meet together.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please spend time each day praying about, and writing down, how God would have you live out that day’s aspect of prayer.    Thank you!

Sunday:  Pray for your church, its staff and leadership, and for all of the preaching and teaching that takes place.  Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.

Monday: Strength to Love God as you should.  Pray that your love of God would always be expressed with all your strength.  Pray that the people around you would know that you give your best in your pursuit of God.  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”  Mark 12:30 (NIV)

Tuesday: Strength to Serve.  Pray that you would daily serve others with the strength that God provides.  “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”   1 Peter 4:11 (NIV)

Wednesday: Strength to do God’s Will.  Pray that you would always draw on God’s strength to accomplish what He calls you to do.  Pray that the people around you would see the strength of God in you as you do His will.  “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”  Philippians 4:13(NIV)

Thursday: Strength in God Alone.  Pray that you would recognize that true strength resides completely with the Lord.  Pray that the people around you would come to know the strength of the Lord.  “They will say of me, ‘In the LORD alone are righteousness and strength.’  All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.”  Isaiah 45:24 (NIV)

Friday: Strength for Each Day.  Pray that God would fill you with the strength needed for each day.  Pray that the people around you would see God’s strength in you daily.  “O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you.  Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.”  Isaiah 33:2 (NIV)

SaturdayStrength when we are Weak.   Pray that you would turn to God for strength when you are weak.  Pray that God’s strength is revealed to others through your weakness.  “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  Psalm 73:26 (NIV)
