Lifestyle of Prayer: In Christ (Week 4)!

“A Lifestyle of Prayer”

This week’s prayer focus:  In Christ (Week 4)!

“From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.”
John 1:16 (NIV)

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  For the month of January, our Lifestyle of Prayer emphasis will focus on some things the Bible says that we have in Christ.  This will be loosely based on a list I was recently given that appears to be copied out of a book.  I’ve not been able to find out what the book was, but I’ve adapted most of the daily topics from that list.  Continue to pray for one another each day.  Continue to pray for the work of missionaries around the world.  Continue to pray for the family.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please spend time praying each day about what you have in Christ and about how God wants you to use it.   Thank you!

Sunday:  Pray for your church, its staff and leadership, and for all of the preaching and teaching that takes place.  Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.

Monday: I Approach God with Confidence.  Pray that your faith in Jesus would give you the confidence to approach God as you offer yourself fully to Him.  “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.”  Ephesians 3:12 (NIV)

Tuesday: I Have Been Rescued.  Pray that you would daily live as one who has been rescued from the dominion of darkness.  “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”  Colossians 1:13-14 (NIV)

Wednesday: I Am Forgiven.  Pray for the courage to forgive yourself and others with the same complete forgiveness that you have in Christ.  “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”  Colossians 1:13-14 (NIV)

Thursday: I Have Christ In Me.  Pray that you would always live your life in such a way that the world can see the mystery of Christ in you.  “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”  Colossians 1:27 (NIV)

Friday: I Am Built Up.  Pray that you would always allow Christ to do His work of building you up.  “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”  Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

SaturdayI Have His Fullness.  Pray that you would daily live as one carrying the fullness of Christ in you.  “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.”  Colossians 2:9-10 (NIV)
