“A Lifestyle of Prayer”
This week’s prayer focus: Completed!
“Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”
Revelation 3:2-3 (NIV)
As we finish out another calendar year, this week’s prayer focus will be about some things that God says should be complete in our lives. The message given to the church in Sardis, and to us, ought to challenge us daily to make sure our deeds are found to be complete in the sight of God. Each day this week we will pray about having some aspect of our life made complete by our relationship with God. As you pray, ask God to help you live in a way that God would view as complete. Pray that you would examine your life for things that are dying and need strengthened. Pray that you would present a complete faith in God to the people around you each day. Pray each day for the individuals of your congregation as well as for the body of Christ as a whole.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
Please pray each day that your life would be lived in a way that allows God to complete His work in you.
Sunday: Pray for your church staff, the preaching and teaching that takes place, the church leadership, the volunteers that are helping in so many areas, the spiritual and financial health of the congregation, and the work of the missions ministry of the church. Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.
Monday: Completed Unity. Pray that you would be united with Christ in a way that brings you to unity with other believers. Pray that the world would understand true unity that is found in Christ. “I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:23 (NIV)
Tuesday: Completed Task. Pray that you would know the work God created in advance for you to do. Pray that you would be faithful in completing the task of sharing the gospel. “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24 (NIV)
Wednesday: Completed Salvation. Pray that you would trust the work of Jesus to save you completely. Pray that you would be diligent about sharing a message of completed salvation through Jesus. “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25 (NIV)
Thursday: Completed Faith. Pray that your actions would complete the faith that you proclaim. Pray that you would allow your belief in God to be seen in everything you do. “You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.” James 2:22 (NIV)
Friday: Completed Love. Pray that you would know the love of God in a way that compels you to show that love to others. Pray that God’s love would be made complete in you by the way you love all the one anothers around you. “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12 (NIV)
Saturday: Completed Joy. Pray that you would live daily with the joy of Christ within you. Pray that you would have a completed joy because of your relationship with Jesus. Pray that the people around you would know the completed joy found in Christ. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:11 (NIV)
