“A Lifestyle of Prayer”

Road Of Praise!

“When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:  ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
Luke 19:37-38 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on living a life that praises God in all that we do.  While the praise of the crowd was only temporary as Jesus made His way into Jerusalem, God’s desire is that your praise of Him continues from now throughout all eternity.  Instead of laying down palm branches and cloaks, we offer praise as we daily lay down our will, desire, and self in order to pick up His will, desire and Spirit.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you find joy in praising Him with every resource He has provided you.  Pray that your life of praise would lift up Jesus and reflect Him well to the community around you.  Pray for a growing unity among believers as we each pursue greater obedience to God and love for one another.  Please continue to pray for one another in the midst of these confusing and changing times.  Pray for discernment and wisdom to see beyond and through the divisiveness of this world so that you would love others as God loves both you and them.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help walk the road of praise with Jesus.

Sunday: Pray for your church staff, the preaching and teaching that takes place, the church leadership, the volunteers that are helping in so many areas, the spiritual and financial health of the congregation, and the work of the missions ministry of the church.  Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.

MondayPraise God Thankfully.  Pray for a spirit of thanksgiving to fill you as you praise God for His righteousness and for the righteousness He has clothed you with in Christ.  Pray that your praise of God would always be filled with thankfulness as you offer yourself to Him.  “I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.”  Psalm 7:17 (NIV)

TuesdayPraise God Sacrificially.  Pray that you would offer God a sacrifice of praise in the way you give of your possessions and of yourself.  Pray that you would reflect the goodness of God as you give praise to Him that is generous and sacrificial.  Pray for a heart that longs to give.  “I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good.”  Psalm 54:6 (NIV)

WednesdayPraise God Wholeheartedly.   Pray that you would hold nothing back in your expressions of praise to God.  Pray that you would always desire to praise God with your whole heart as you offer Him all that you are.  Pray for a heart that fully seeks after God as you praise Him forever.  “I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.”  Psalm 86:12 (NIV)

ThursdayPraise God Willingly.  Pray that your awareness of God’s laws would cause you to willingly praise God as you have a greater understanding of His love, mercy, and grace.  Pray for a spirit of joy to fill you as you grow in awareness of God’s acceptance of your willing praise.  “Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws.”  Psalm 119:108 (NIV)

FridayPraise God All Your Life.  Pray that you would always be found praising God each day that He gives you life.  Pray for eyes that see the many reasons to praise God each day.  Pray that you would daily offer to God the song of praise that He has already put in your heart.  “I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”  Psalm 146:2 (NIV)

Saturday:  Praise God Together.  Pray that you would have a renewed commitment to gathering regularly with other believers, in whatever means possible, for the purpose of praising God together.  Pray that your desire to praise God together with others would be fulfilled in ways that include, but are not limited to, a Sunday gathering.  “Praise the LORD.  Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints.”  Psalm 149:1 (NIV)

Road To Unity!

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:2-3 (NIV)

Our Lifestyle of Prayer emphasis this week will focus on different aspects of unity from God’s perspective.  It seems nearly everyone loves the idea of unity, if people would just agree with me (what I say, what I like, what I want, what I . . .) though really we just want conformity, not unity.  Real unity comes when we decide it’s all about what God says, wants, and desires and not about me!  Use the suggestions each day, but most of all allow God’s Word to soak into your life and direct how you pray and who you pray for.  As you pray this week, pay attention to any changes and/or actions God would be calling you to make in that area.  Pray for a unity of spirit among believers in general and among your church family in particular.  As you pray, listen for what God would have you to do. Pray for the courage to walk across any made up lines which divide us from one another, even as you stay within the lines of God’s Word.

Please pray each day for God to help walk the road of unity with Jesus.

MondayRoad To Unity of Mind.  Pray for a unity of mind among the people of God so that the work of the kingdom is not hindered.  Pray that the Word of God would be the source for the unity of mind you seek.  “Also in Judah the hand of God was on the people to give them unity of mind to carry out what the king and his officials had ordered, following the word of the LORD.”  2 Chronicles 30:12 (NIV)

TuesdayRoad To Unity of Life.  Pray for unity in the individual families of your congregation and throughout the family of your congregation so that life together will be “good and pleasant”.  Pray that you would learn to live in unity while honoring the uniqueness of individuals.  Pray that a unity of life would help those around you see Jesus.  “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!”  Psalm 133:1 (NIV)

WednesdayRoad To Complete Unity.  Pray that your pursuit of complete unity in Christ would help others to see Jesus and the love of God in you.  Pray that love would be the foundation of your unity in a world that needs to see the love of God in you.  “I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”  John 17:23 (NIV)

ThursdayRoad To Unity of Spirit.  Pray for a unity of spirit among your church family that is based on following Christ Jesus.  Pray that you would grow in endurance as God encourages and leads you to a greater unity through following Christ.  Pray that a unity of spirit would identify you as a follower of Christ.  “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus.”  Romans 15:5  (NIV)

FridayRoad To Unity of Faith.  Pray for the maturity to get along with one another as we all mature into a unity of faith.  Pray that your knowledge of Jesus would lead you to a unity of faith that results in growing into the fullness of Christ.  “Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”  Ephesians 4:13 (NIV)

Saturday:  Road To Perfect Unity.  Pray for a Christ-like love which will hold together in perfect unity all of the godly characteristics that God calls you to “put on” in your life.  Pray about how all of the goodness of God will come together in your life as you live in the presence of others in a way that imitates Jesus.  “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”  Colossians 3:14 (NIV)

Road To Healing!

“Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, ‘May the LORD, who is good, pardon everyone who sets his heart on seeking God — the LORD, the God of his fathers — even if he is not clean according to the rules of the sanctuary.’  And the LORD heard Hezekiah and healed the people.”
2 Chronicles 30:18-20 (NIV)

Most Christians are familiar with the “If my people . . .” passage early in 2 Chronicles where God promises Solomon that He would heal the land of those who would humble themselves and pray.  Later in the same book, we find where Hezekiah humbles himself and prays — not only for himself and the land, but for the healing of the people as they turned to God to receive His forgiveness.  Far too often in our prayers, we focus on a good thing — the physical healing of people — and miss a better thing, the spiritual healing of ourselves and others.  As you pray this week, ask God to cover you in His grace as you seek forgiveness and healing of anything that would hinder your prayers.  Pray that you would spend at least as much time praying for the spiritual well-being of people as you do praying for their physical health.  Pray that you would experience God’s healing in every need that you have.  Pray about how God can use you to express His healing to others.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help walk the road of healing with Jesus.

MondayHealing Through God’s Mercy.  Pray that you would seek, and know, the mercy of God when you need healing from sin and from the effects of sin in your life.  Pray that you would help others heal as you extend the same mercy to them that you have received from God.  “I said, ‘O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you.’”  Psalm 41:4 (NIV)

TuesdayHealing Through God’s Word.  Pray that you would know the power of God’s Word that can heal you from the deadly power of the grave.  Pray that your trust in God and His Word would lead you to share with others about the healing that can be had through obeying God’s Word.  “He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.”  Psalm 107:20 (NIV)

WednesdayHealing Through Pleasant Words.  Pray that you would speak pleasant words and know the healing that you will both give and receive in doing so.  Pray that you would guard the words you allow into your life so that you would hear pleasant words that bring healing.  “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”  Proverbs 16:24 (NIV)

ThursdayHealing Through Confession and Prayer.  Pray that you would have wisdom in agreeing with those you have sinned against or have wronged you.  Ask God to help you pray with and for others, especially those you are in disagreement with.  “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”  James 5:16 (NIV)

FridayHealing By Christ’s Sacrifice.  Pray that you would know the complete healing that was purchased for you by the blood of Jesus.  Pray that you would be healed from the power of sin in order to live a righteous life.  “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”  1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)

Saturday:  Healing For the Soul.  Pray that you would experience a wellness of the soul that brings healing.  Pray that things would go well for those around you as they experience a soul that is well.  “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.”  3 John 1:2 (NIV)

Road To Greatness!

“Then he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all — he is the greatest.’”
Luke 9:48 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will be about learning from Jesus as to how we can walk the road to greatness.  It seems our human nature often strives to be the greatest yet we tend to pursue that by the ways of the world rather than through the instruction of Jesus.  As the disciples walked the road with Jesus, they argued about which one of them was the greatest.  It is in this context that Jesus teaches us that the key to greatness is wrapped up in our willingness to serve others.  When practiced within the body of Christ, no one gets left out because serving God’s way really is about one another — every one another.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you walk His way on this road to greatness.  Pray that you would desire greatness in all things, but only in the way Jesus defines greatness.  Pray that your relationship with Jesus would equip you to do greater things as you serve people in His name.  Pray that you would not be one that settles for lesser things when God wants to amply supply you with greater things.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help you unwrap His gift of languages so we can speak clearly.

MondayGreatness In Love.  Pray that you would always be aware of the great love God has shown you through the laying down of the life of Jesus.  Pray that you would love people like Jesus loves you.  Pray for a willingness to sacrifice for the benefit of others.  “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15:13 (NIV)

TuesdayGreatness In Gift.  Pray that you would use all of the gifts God has given to you, but always within the context of the “greater gift” of love.  Pray that God’s love would be expressed through you in ways that are “most excellent”.  Pray that you would always desire the things God calls “greater gifts”.  “But eagerly desire the greater gifts.  And now I will show you the most excellent way.”  1 Corinthians 12:31 (NIV)

WednesdayGreatness In Glory.  Pray that you would seek the things of God which will endure.  Pray that your appreciation for the things of glory that fade would lead you to discover the things of greater glory.  Pray that your life would share with others about the glory yet to come.  “And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!”  2 Corinthians 3:11 (NIV)

ThursdayGreatness In Value.  Pray that you would accurately evaluate the value you place on the “treasures” of this world.  Pray that you would learn to consider the cost of following Jesus to be of greater value than the things of the world.  Pray that you would keep your eyes focused on the reward that has eternal value.  “He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”  Hebrews 11:26 (NIV)

FridayGreatness In Testimony.  Pray that you would view the testimony of God to be greater than the testimony of man.  Pray that you would listen for truthful testimony and find that its source is from God.  Pray that your life would be about sharing the greater testimony of God’s work in you.  “We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.”  1 John 5:9 (NIV)

Saturday:  Greatness In Joy.  Pray that you would find a greater joy than what the world can offer.  Pray that you would receive joy from having children in the faith.  Pray that you would bring greater joy to others by walking in truth.  “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”  3 John 1:4 (NIV)

Unwrapped Languages!

“What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.  Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Matthew 10:27-28 (NIV)

This week we will be unwrapping the gift of languages and discovering it is really all about allowing God to speak through us as we live for Him.  In the New Testament, this gift is generally about God gifting people to speak in a language they have not learned so that His message can be understood in the native language of the listener.  I believe God continues to gift His people with the ability to speak in ways which are helpful to the understanding of the listener.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you speak the right things in the right way at the right time.  Pray that you would always look for, and make the most of, every opportunity to speak words of truth and life.  Pray that God would help your words about Jesus to be clearly communicated to those who listen.  Pray that the people around you would know of your relationship with Jesus and seek that for themselves as they hear you speak.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help you unwrap His gift of languages so we can speak clearly.

MondaySpeak Plainly.  Pray that your ears would be opened to God’s Word and that your tongue would be set free to speak plainly.  Pray that God would help you to communicate the gospel message in a way that is both plainly spoken and plainly understood.  Pray that you would not complicate the gospel message.  “At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.”  Mark 7:35 (NIV)

TuesdaySpeak Praise.  Pray that your mouth would be filled with praise of God every time you speak.  Pray that praise of God would continually flow from who you are.  Ask God to fill your mind with thoughts that are praiseworthy so that words of praise would naturally flow from your lips.   “Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak, praising God.”  Luke 1:64 (NIV)

WednesdaySpeak Boldly.  Pray that God would enable and empower you to speak boldly on His behalf even in the face of opposition.  Pray that you would not allow anything to keep you from speaking God’s Word with boldness.  Ask God to give you courage when fear tries to keep you from speaking.  “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.”  Acts 4:29 (NIV)

ThursdaySpeak Encouragement.  Pray that God’s Word would fill you with words of encouragement for others.  Ask God to help you make the most of every opportunity to encourage others with the Word of God.  “After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the synagogue rulers sent word to them, saying, ‘Brothers, if you have a message of encouragement for the people, please speak.’”  Acts 13:15 (NIV)

FridaySpeak Wisdom.  Pray that you would have the maturity to see through the deceit of the wisdom of this age in order to speak true wisdom.  Ask God to help you speak with discernment as you share the wisdom of His Word.  “We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.”  1 Corinthians 2:6 (NIV)

SaturdaySpeak Truthfully.  Pray that you would actively put off all falsehood so that you would be free to speak truthfully to the people around you.  Ask God to purify the thoughts  in your mind which lead to the words you speak.  Pray that compassion and  honesty would guide your conversations with those closest to you.  “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”  Ephesians 4:25 (NIV)

“’Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them.  I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?’  declares the LORD.  ‘So you will be my people, and I will be your God.'”
Jeremiah 30:21-22 (NIV)

This week we will be unwrapping the gift of leadership and how God wants those who lead, to lead according to His will, instruction, and power.  Before you dismiss this prayer guide as not applicable to you, or think it is all about someone else, look around at how God has called you to lead.  Leadership done God’s way should always take place under the ultimate leadership of God and be done so that people recognize Him as the One who is leading.  As you pray this week, ask God to make you aware of the situations He has called you to lead in.  Pray that you would lead in ways that make Him known rather than in ways that promote yourself or your own agenda.  Pray that you would always know God as the leader you follow — even in areas you are called to lead in.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help you unwrap His gift of leadership.

MondayLead with Generosity.  Pray that your willingness to give would cause those you are leading to rejoice.  Pray that your generosity would always flow from the knowledge that you are giving to the Lord.  “The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD.  David the king also rejoiced greatly.”  1 Chronicles 29:9 (NIV)

TuesdayLead with Justice.  Pray that you would be filled with the wisdom to lead with justice.  Pray that you would treat everyone fairly and without partiality as you lead.  Pray for God’s view of justice to guide you as you lead.  Pray that the people you lead would know they are valuable to you and to God.  “Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel.  Should you not know justice?”  Micah 3:1 (NIV)

WednesdayLead Away from Ignorance.  Pray that your leadership would be done in wisdom and truth, rather than in ignorance.  Pray that your actions would lead people toward truth and not away from it.  Pray for the courage to recognize ignorance in your own life and deal with it so that you can lead people away from their ignorance.  “Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.”  Acts 3:17 (NIV)

ThursdayLead Diligently.  Pray that you would be diligent in leading by the power of God’s Spirit in every area He has called you to lead.  Pray for the endurance to lead wisely through both your words and actions.  Pray about growing in a willingness to be faithful in allowing God to work through you.  “ . . . if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”  Romans 12:8a (NIV)

FridayLead by Example.  Pray that you would never forget the examples of those who have led well before you.  Pray that you would be courageous in following the examples of those who lead in godly ways.  Pray that your life would be a godly example to those who hear the Word of God through you.  “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”  Hebrews 13:7 (NIV)

SaturdayLead with Accountability.  Pray that you would lead with the ever-present knowledge that you will give an account for how you lead.  Pray that your obedience to God would encourage others to obey as they follow your leadership.  “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.”  Hebrews 13:17 (NIV)

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34-3 (NIV)

As we continue a focus on unwrapping God’s gifts to us, we will spend some time praying about the love God has expressed toward us and about how we can live in such a way that we share it with others.  God has always instructed His people to love, so it must have been a little confusing to the disciples when Jesus told them He was giving them a new command — a command to love one another.  I believe the new part of the command, new because it had not been seen in such a clear way ever before, was to love as Jesus loved.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you evaluate how you love.  Pray that you would be so filled with God’s love that loving like Jesus would become more natural each day.

Please pray each day for God to help you unwrap His gift of love.

MondayLove God.  Pray that your love of God would always be the top priority of all the love you have.  Pray that God’s love for you would be the standard for the love you have for Him.  Pray that your love for God would grow each day.  “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.”  Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV)

TuesdayLove Your Neighbor.  Pray that you would focus more on loving your neighbor as God would want than on trying to define who that neighbor is — or isn’t.  Pray that  you would be the neighbor that shows love to all those in need.  Pray for the courage to love others in a way that values them.  “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”  Mark 12:31 (NIV)

WednesdayLove Your Enemies.  Pray that the love of God within you would extend to those you disagree with — even with those who would be considered enemies.  Pray that the love God expressed toward you while you were an enemy would be expressed by you to those who may treat  you poorly.  “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”  Luke 6:27-28 (NIV)

ThursdayLove that Leads to Obedience.   Pray that you would be filled with a love that seeks to do the things that you know please God.  Pray that you would live with an obedient spirit that desires to obey the commands of God as an expression of your love.  Pray that your love for God would be seen by others as you live according to His Word.  “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”  John 14:15 (NIV)

FridayLove that Honors Others.  Pray that your love for others would be sincere as you look for the things that benefit them.  Pray that the way you honor others would reject evil and seek what is good.  Pray for the humility to honor others above yourself.  “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”  Romans 12:9-10 (NIV)

SaturdayLove that Resolves Sin.  Pray that you would know the love of God that has resolved the multitude of sins in your life.  Pray that the way you love others would not use their sin against them but would help them be able to resolve that sin with God.  Pray that the depth of your love would lead to forgiveness — both a forgiveness you receive and a forgiveness you give.  “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”  1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

Unwrapped Serving!

“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.”
Mark 10:43-44 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on learning to serve.  God makes it clear in His Word that we serve Him when we serve people.  While the world often defines greatness based on power and who you have serving you, God says that to be great you must become servant of all.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you to not only see opportunities to serve but to give you the courage to actually serve.  Pray for a spirit of humility to guide you as you serve people wherever you are.  Pray that God’s love would be seen and felt through you as you serve.  Pray that your commitment to serving would be an example for others.  Pray about how God would use your service to teach and train others to join in a lifestyle that serves.

Please pray each day for God to help you unwrap His gift of serving.

MondayServe In The Spirit.  Pray that you would know the freedom in Christ that enables you to serve in the way of the Spirit.  Pray that each believer would experience the freedom found by serving in the Spirit.  “But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.”  Romans 7:6 (NIV)

TuesdayServe With Power.  Pray for the courage to serve in God’s power even when you feel weak.  Pray that your eyes would be opened to how God desires show His power through your weaknesses.  “For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him to serve you.”  2 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV)

WednesdayServe One Another.  Pray that you would look for opportunities to use you freedom to serve others rather than yourself.  Pray for the compassion needed to serve one another even when you think you are free not to.  “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”  Galatians 5:13 (NIV)

ThursdayServe Wholeheartedly.  Pray that you would serve others with a whole heart, just as you would if it were Jesus being served.  Pray that you would keep your eyes fixed on Jesus as you serve.  Pray that you would know the joy and contentment that comes from serving wholeheartedly.  “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men.”  Ephesians 6:7 (NIV)

FridayServe Faithfully.  Pray that you would be faithful in using God’s gifting in your life to serve others.  Pray that your faithfulness in serving would be based on God’s faithfulness to you.  Pray that God would help you to know His grace more fully.  “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”  1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

SaturdayServe Eagerly.  Pray that you would eagerly desire, and look for, opportunities to serve.  Pray not only for elders who serve eagerly, but to be one who eagerly serves all those who might look to you as an example.  “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers — not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve.”  1 Peter 5:2 (NIV)

Unwrapped Teaching!

“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!”
Hebrews 5:12 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on unwrapping the gift of teaching and on our responsibility to teach.  While some people have special roles of teaching, all of us are teachers of someone who is watching.  So the question isn’t if you teach, but rather what are you teaching?  God’s desire is that we learn and put into practice the truths of His Word so we would move beyond infancy and be able to teach accurately.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you realize how, and who, He would have you teach.  Pray that you would live with humility as you learn so that you would teach others the value of putting the things of God into practice.  Pray for those in specific roles of teaching — both those who teach in various school settings (public, private, homeschool, etc) as well as those who teach God’s Word within the church.  Pray that you would be a teacher of the things you learn from God.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help you unwrap His gift of teaching.

MondayTeach As a Disciple-Maker.  Pray that you would know the things commanded by God well enough that you are able to teach them.  Pray that you would be involved not only in introducing people to Christ, but also in teaching them the things of Christ.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

TuesdayTeach Without Stopping.  Pray that you would always be aware of the teaching opportunities God gives you each day.  Pray that you would never give up teaching about the good news of Jesus.  “Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.”  Acts 5:42 (NIV)

WednesdayTeach With Godly Wisdom.  Pray that you would always look to God for the wisdom necessary to teach perfection in Christ.  Pray that your teaching would not only be lived by you, but would lead others to become more like Christ.  “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”  Colossians 1:28 (NIV)

ThursdayTeach the Usefulness of Scripture.  Pray that you would know the necessity of Scripture in teaching that will bring about positive change.  Pray that you would use scripture accurately in teaching that leads to a righteousness in your life and in those who learn from you.  “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”  2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

FridayTeach Sound Doctrine.  Pray that you would pay careful attention to sound doctrine as you teach with both your words and your life.  Pray that you would continually seek God for His help in keeping your life and teaching in line with sound doctrine.  “You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.”  Titus 2:1 (NIV)

Saturday:  Teach With Integrity.   Pray that you would be careful to make your lifestyle be a positive example of the godly teaching you share.  Pray that your teaching would be filled with an integrity that can be seen in the good works that you do.  “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity and seriousness.”  Titus 2:7 (NIV)

Unwrapped Fellowship!

“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”
1 John 1:3 (NIV)

Our prayer emphasis this week will focus on growing in fellowship through the gift of mercy.  While most Christians are aware of God’s desire that we have fellowship with Him and with one another, we often leave growing in that fellowship to chance with little training or practice in the things that would draw us together.  As you pray this week, talk with God about how your fellowship with Him can grow.  Pray that you would desire a greater fellowship with God as the foundation of all of your other relationships.  Pray that you would grow in both the desire and practice of living in fellowship with those who share your faith in God.  Pray that the fellowship you experience with other believers would attract others to pursuing God and having fellowship with Him.  Pray that your fellowship with Christ, and with one another, would prepare you for an eternal fellowship.  Pray for a spirit of unity among brothers and sisters in Christ as we grow in our love for one another.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help you live in fellowship with Him and with one another.

Monday: Fellowship In Worship.  Pray that you would know and practice the things which are important as you gather with others to worship God.  Pray that your devotion to God would be reflected in the things you are devoted to doing as you worship.  “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”  Acts 2:42 (NIV)

Tuesday: Fellowship With a Faithful God.  Pray that you would know the faithfulness of a God who calls you into fellowship with Himself.  Pray that you, and those around you, would respond faithfully to the calling of God to join with Him in fellowship through His Son, Jesus Christ.  “God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”  1 Corinthians 1:9 (NIV)

Wednesday: Fellowship Through the Holy Spirit.  Pray that you would live with an awareness of God’s Spirit living in fellowship with you each day.  Pray that you would allow the working of the Holy Spirit to bring you into greater fellowship with God and with one another.  “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”  2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV)

Thursday: Fellowship Of Grace.  Pray that you would realize the grace offered to you by God, and by others, as they accepted you into fellowship.  Pray that you would trust God’s grace to work in the lives of others as you join them in fellowship and make them feel welcome.  “James, Peter and John, those reputed to be pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me.”  Galatians 2:9 (NIV)

Friday: Fellowship Of Suffering.  Pray that you would know the value of joining in the fellowship of Christ’s suffering.  Pray that a fellowship in the suffering of Christ would keep you aware of the sufferings of others.  “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”  Philippians 3:10-11 (NIV)

SaturdayFellowship With One Another.  Pray that you would know fellowship with others as you walk together in the light of Jesus.  Pray about how the complete cleansing of sin by Jesus should bring you into fellowship with one another.  “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”  1 John 1:7 (NIV)
