“A Lifestyle of Prayer” 

 This week’s prayer focus: God’s Will!

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” 
Romans 12:2

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.   This week will be the second of two weeks that our prayer focus will be on God’s Will.  Pray that your daily walk with God will transform your heart and mind so you will accurately test and know His perfect will.  Pray each day for the individuals of the church congregation you attend as well as for the body of believers that meet together. 

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please spend time praying about each day’s specific focus on Renewal.  With that focus in mind, pray for yourself, your family, your friends, neighbors, and all the “one anothers” we’ve been praying for over the past year.  Thank you!

Sunday:  Pray for your church, its staff and leadership, and for all of the preaching and teaching that takes place.  Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.

Monday: The Good Purpose of God’s Will.  Pray that you would allow God’s will to work in you to accomplish His good purpose.  “For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”  Philippians 2:3

Tuesday: Knowledge of God’s Will.  Pray that your time spent with Jesus would fill you with the wisdom and understanding necessary for a knowledge of God’s will.  “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.”  Colossians 1:9

Wednesday: Stand Firm in God’s Will.  Pray that you would stand firm in the will of God and faithfully wrestle in prayer that others would stand firm also.  “Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.”  Colossians 4:12

Thursday: Sanctified by God’s Will.  Pray that you would obey God’s will for you to be sanctified and avoid sexual impurity.  “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.”  1 Thessalonians 4:3

Friday: Giving Thanks as God’s Will.  Pray that you would be joyful as you pray continually and give thanks for all things according to God’s will.  Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Saturday:  Result of Living by God’s Will.  Pray that you would remain steadfast in doing the will of God so that you would receive the eternal reward.  “The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”  1 John 2:17

Monday: Choosing God’s Will.  Pray that you would choose to do God’s will as you examine the teaching of Jesus.  “If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.”  John 7:17

Tuesday: Proclaim God’s Will.  Pray that God’s Spirit would give you the boldness to proclaim the will of God.  “For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.”  Acts 20:27

Wednesday: Intercession by God’s Will.  Pray with thanksgiving for a Spirit who intercedes through our prayers according to God’s will.  “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”  Romans 8:27

Thursday: Giving by God’s Will.  Pray that your giving of yourself to God and to others would be done in keeping with the will of God.  “And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will.”  2 Corinthians 8:5

Friday: Rescued by God’s Will.  Pray with gratitude and rejoicing that it has been God’s will to rescue you from sin and the present evil age.   “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.”  Galatians 1:3-4

Saturday:  Obedience as God’s Will.  Pray that your obedience to those over you would be done in the same way as you obey God according to  His will.  “Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.”  Ephesians 6:6

 This week’s prayer focus: Renewal!

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

“LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD.  Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
Habakkuk 3:2

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.  This week our prayer focus will be on Renewal.  We will pray about some ways that God calls us to be renewed — not just for our own benefit, but so we will be better equipped to serve others and share the gospel message.  Pray each day for the individuals of the church congregation you attend as well as for the body of believers that meet together. 

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Tuesday: Renewed Mind.  Pray that you would put aside the ways of the world as you allow God to renew your mind.  “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Romans 12:2

Wednesday: Renewed Inwardly.  Pray that you would experience an inward renewal even in the midst of outward struggles and difficulties.  “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”  2  Corinthians 4:16

Thursday: Renewed Concern.  Pray that you would have a renewed concern for people and would make the most of your opportunities to express that concern.  “I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.”  Philippians 4:10

Friday: Renewed Knowledge.  Pray that your knowledge would be renewed by truth.  “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”  Colossians 3:9-10

Saturday:  Renewed by the Holy Spirit.  Pray that you would live daily as one who has been renewed by the Holy Spirit.  “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”  Titus 3:4-5

 This week’s prayer focus: Encouragement!

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
 Hebrews 3:13

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.  This week our prayer focus will be the second of two weeks praying about encouragement.  We will pray about some ways that God says we can be encouraged — not just for our own encouragement, but so we will be better equipped to encourage others.  Pray each day for the individuals of the church congregation you attend as well as for the body of believers that meet together. 

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Wednesday: Encouraged from being United with Christ.  Pray that the encouragement you have from being united with Christ would compel you to live like Christ.  “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion.”  Philippians 2:1

Thursday: Encouraged by Sound Doctrine.  Pray that you would receive, and give, encouragement as you hold firmly to the sound doctrine of scripture.  “He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”  Titus 1:9

Friday: Encouraged by Love.  Pray that your love for people would be an encouragement to both you and them.  “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”  Philemon 1:7

Saturday:  Encouraged through Meeting Together.  Pray that you would always see value in meeting together for encouragement.  “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”  Hebrews 10:25

Tuesday: Encouraged by the Holy Spirit.  Pray that the encouragement received from the Holy Spirit would bring godly strength and spiritual growth into your life.  “Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord.”  Acts 9:31

Wednesday: Encouraged to Remain True.  Pray that God’s grace would be an encouragement to remain true to the Lord.  “When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.”  Acts 11:23

Thursday: Encouraged by Words.  Pray that the words you speak would be an encouragement to those who hear.  “He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece.”  Acts 20:2

Friday: Encouraged by Faith of Others.  Pray that  your faith in God would be an encouragement to others as their faith is an encouragement to you.  “That you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”  Romans 1:12

Saturday:  Encouraged by Scripture.  Pray that the Word would be an encouragement to the hope that is within you.  “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”  Romans 15:4

 This week’s prayer focus: Direction!

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.”
Proverbs 21:1

As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event.  View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.  This week our prayer focus will be on seeking direction!  There is no decision you make, big or small, that would not benefit greatly from seeking direction from God before you act.  As you pray, pray that you would not only seek God’s direction, but that you would follow it.  Pray each day for the individuals of the church congregation you attend as well as for the body of believers that meet together. 

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Sunday: Pray for Tom Lemler and the work God is doing through Impact Prayer Ministry.

Monday: Directed in Love.  Pray that the direction you seek would be an expression of God’s love directed to, and through, you.  “By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me — a prayer to the God of my life.”  Psalm 42:8

Tuesday: Directed by Commands of God.  Pray that the direction you seek would be consistent with the commands of God so that you would find delight.  “Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.”  Psalm 119:35

Wednesday: Directed by God’s Word.  Pray that the direction you seek would keep your every step in line with God’s Word so as not to give sin a foothold.  “Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.”  Psalm 119:133

Thursday: Directed by the Lord Himself.  Pray that the direction you seek would be set by God even when it is beyond your understanding.  “A man’s steps are directed by the LORD.  How then can anyone understand his own way?”  Proverbs 20:24

Friday: Directed by Godly Teaching.  Pray that the direction you seek would be learned by listening to the teaching of God.  “This is what the LORD says — your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.’”  Isaiah 48:17

Saturday:  Directed to Love and Perseverance.  Pray that the direction you seek would lead you into the love and perseverance of the Father and Son.  “May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.”  2 Thessalonians 3:5
