“A Lifestyle of Prayer”

Road Of Change!

“And he said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.’”
Matthew 18:3 (NIV)

This week’s prayer emphasis will focus on encountering Jesus on the road of change.  A pursuit of God, and His pursuit of us, should lead us to a place where our need for a transformation of heart, mind, body, and soul is obvious.  God isn’t bringing change into our life simply for the sake of change, He brings change because we need it!  Just as our encounter with Jesus changes us, we must anticipate that the same transforming power of Jesus will change others.  As you pray this week, ask God to help you walk a road of change with Jesus.  Pray for the wisdom to know what God wants to change in your life, and the courage to be receptive to that change.  Pray that you would have patience with God, with yourself, and with others as the process of change takes place according to God’s will and timing.  Pray also for wisdom in knowing the things to remain steadfast in which shouldn’t change.  Pray for a daily desire to be more like Christ.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Please pray each day for God to help walk the road of change with Jesus.

Sunday: Pray for your church staff, the preaching and teaching that takes place, the church leadership, the volunteers that are helping in so many areas, the spiritual and financial health of the congregation, and the work of the missions ministry of the church.  Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.

MondayA Road of Conviction.  Pray that you would be responsive to the conviction of God’s Spirit.  Pray that God would help you live by His power.  Ask God to help you live as one chosen by Him.  “For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction.”  1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 (NIV)

TuesdayA Road of Humility.  Pray for a spirit of humility which guides your willingness to change.  Pray for the humility necessary to allow for godly changes to take place in others.  Ask God to help you consider the needs of others as He uses you to accomplish change.  “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.”  Philippians 2:3 (NIV)

WednesdayA Road of Action:  Pray that you would be responsive to God with a willingness to think and act according to His will.  Pray for an understanding of how your thoughts determine your actions so that you would live with grace-filled deeds.  “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.”  1 Peter 1:13 (NIV)

ThursdayA Road of Notice:  Pray for a heart and mind that pays attention to necessary changes in your life and in the lives of others.  Pray that the changes brought about by God in your life would help others to notice Him.  “The king is familiar with these things, and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner.”  Acts 26:26 (NIV)

FridayA Road of Gentleness:  Pray for a spirit of gentleness to guide you as you experience God’s gentleness in the changes He makes in your life.  Pray that your gentleness with others would be evident as you allow time for God to work in their life.  Pray that a constant awareness of God’s presence would help you be gentle with others.  “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”  Philippians 4:5 (NIV)

Saturday:  A Road of Encouragement:  Pray that  God’s Word would be an encouragement to you in any changes He wants to do in your life.  Pray that you would use God’s Word for teaching in ways which encourage others to embrace the changes they need.  “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”  Romans 15:4 (NIV)
